I absolutely loved working with Maria and Michael to get them the maternity images they had dreamed of. Maria and I chatted a lot beforehand about what she wanted and how we could make that happen.
As can be typical with the Lower Mainland, the weather had not been great during the lead up to our session. During the afternoon, the clouds parted and beautiful sunshine shone and we just knew that we would have an incredible sunset to work with. We were not disappointed. We had lots of laughs along the way and Maria and Michael told me that this little baby is their first. It made me reminisce about my first baby (I now have 3!). We talked about pregnancy and parenting and all the funny aspects, the strange aspects, and the exciting aspects. We hung out at the beach until the sun disappeared and there was no more light to shoot. A perfect evening at the beach. Wishing Maria and Michael all the love and joy in the world as they welcome their perfect little baby into the world.

I absolutely ADORE weddings. I enjoy them as a guest, for sure. But I love them even more as a photographer. I am always that sap with a tear rolling down my cheek during the speeches and just beaming as the couple say their vows.
When Cassidy and Jack booked their wedding with me, I got very excited as it was on May 4th - STAR WARS DAY!!!!!!! I was assured that there would be no Star Wars theme occurring on the day. I didn't let that stop me from packing up my son's lightsaber's "just in case". That turned out well as it entertained some of the younger members of the wedding party during the formal pictures. I love the individuality of each wedding that I photograph. Cassidy and Jack's wedding was relaxed yet elegant and beautiful. They were such a dream to collaborate with from start to finish. It was so much fun to see Cassidy getting excited over the sparkly shoes she had for her big day, and for how they managed to make it really reflect who they are as a couple. Every wedding I have worked on has been special for a different reason. This wedding was no exception. Cassidy's family are my neighbours and so I had a personal investment in making sure that I helped their day go as smoothly as possible. I was greeted in the morning by Jack and his dad, Ian, who tried to entice me with some incredible looking scones. Shortly afterwards, we shot the first look. I have to admit that I do enjoy first looks as they capture some really raw emotions and so much love. For me, they are a must have in a wedding album. We headed out for the formals and group shots at Fort Langley. It was where we had shot the engagement session. Cassidy and Jack had enjoyed that area so much at that time that they felt it was a great spot for the wedding day also. This is also where the lightsaber wars took place! On our way back from the wedding party shots, we stopped at Chipotle's for the food. Thanks to Cassidy, I now have a total addiction to their burrito's. Yummmmmm. Cassidy and Jack signed all the paperwork at Jack's parents' house and we headed out to the Clayton Inn which was where the ceremony and reception would take place. The room was elegantly decorated with a pink and white theme, while the tables all had Star Wars related names … so glad they managed to sneak it in somehow. The rest of the evening was a romantic blur. The bridesmaids danced up the aisle, which delighted the guests. The speeches were hilariously funny and so beautifully affectionate. A perfect day for a perfect couple! I was so excited when Cassidy and Jack got in touch with me to photograph their wedding. But first, the engagement session! Cassidy knew she wanted the autumn colours and the golden evening sunset light and I'm a sucker for a sunset. We decided to head to Fort Langley as it has so many interesting spots to offer. We had such a perfect evening. The weather was warm, the leaves were crispy, and the light was golden.
These guys were so comfortable in front of the camera. It was as if I wasn't even there. They laughed and joked and were not afraid to get close and just be with each other. I had so much fun with them. I now can't wait to photograph their wedding. I was very privileged to be invited back to photograph the 2nd annual Shelley Webster Memorial Golf Tournament this year. I had been fortunate enough to capture the first one last year.
The tournament was started by local mom, Laura Thomas. She was looking to raise funds for her local facebook moms group and recalled her mother telling her a story about a womens' only golf tournament that she used to take part in. This inspired Laura to initiate arrangements for a golf tournament for the moms on the TCMG - Tri-City Mom's Group. While she was organizing the event, her mother became very ill. Sadly, Shelley Webster passed on the morning of the tournament and it was decided that the tournament would be named in her honour. Laura has continued the tradition and here are some images from the 2nd annual Shelley Webster Memorial Golf Tournament. Here's to many more years of this wonderful fundraiser that helped so many local families throughout the year. This wedding was truly one from the heart for me as I got to photograph the wedding of my good friend, Solanlle. Her and Ryan's special day was one that was surrounded by so much love. Ryan had two best men and Solanlle had two maids of honour and this wedding party really made sure that the bride and groom had a fun-filled day with so much love and laughter.
As with all weddings, there was a funny story. My parents were visiting from the UK at the time of the wedding and so I decided to fit in a mini vacation and show them Harrison Hot Springs for a few days. Well, they ended up helping with the set up for the reception and being invited as guests. They had a wonderful time celebrating Solanlle & Ryan. Solanlle wanted a first look for not only Ryan, but her parents as well. This was quite the emotional experience for everyone and such a meaningful memory for all to have created. Solanlle & Ryan, what a wonderful day for you two and I'm so glad I was there to bear witness and capture it all. Kate & Chris's wedding took place in New Westminster and was such a beautiful sight to behold. So much creativity and love. So much originality.
I followed Kate while she got ready in her home with her bridesmaids and her family. Her make up was done by her bridesmaid and everyone had their hair styled by Kailey of "Hair by Kailey Leanne." Some of the most fun facts surrounding their special day - Kate had stumbled upon an antique store near the venue before the wedding and we stepped inside for some photographs. The officiator happened to be another close friend of the couple. They were also serenaded during the speech part of the evening by a bridesmaid and her husband. It happened to coincide with the New West food truck festival. Seizing an opportunity for some amazing eats that would please every palate, Kate & Chris arranged for their guests to eat at the vendor of each individuals choice. That was a unique and exciting aspect of Kate & Chris's day. But it didn't end there! A truly spectacular moment was when all the guests were invited outside at sunset and the band that were playing at the food truck festival, performed the music for the first dance. This all took place out on the street and it was impossible not to shed a tear at the beauty and romance of it all. Such a beautiful day for such a beautiful couple!
